BeReal has been ahead of Instagram in weekly downloads in the US since July and could even catch up with TikTok.
It is not without reason that one social platform after another, like the current trending social platform BeReal, convinces with authenticity and describes itself as anti-Instagram. BeReal asks you to post an unfiltered image once a day—one part derived from the rear camera, the other from the front camera, and both photos are uploaded simultaneously. Snapchat, for example, has adapted this camera function from BeReal. Instagram promptly adopted the whole approach.
Can BeReal surpass TikTok?
BeReal already has over ten million daily active users. Within a year, BeReal’s use increased by 315 percent, and downloads increased by 1,000 percent. The app has even surpassed Instagram in weekly downloads in the US.
The AppMagic data shows that Gen Z mainly uses the app, downloading it 1.1 million times more often in July and 2.5 million more in August than Instagram. BeReal has been on track to be the most downloaded app in the US since August 2022 and is currently overtaking the most popular platform, TikTok.
Is there anything special about BeReal?
Users post original photos once daily, and no algorithm dictates what they should see next. However, BeReal has reportedly started considering integrating paid features for the first time since its launch.
A recent petition made clear that BeReal has a chance to become the new social app amid the growing dislike of Instagram.
